Challenge Day 21/30...Criminal Minds

At my quilting class today, the instructor informed me that her son lives near Quantico. My response? Is he in the FBI??? To most, that might seem a random odd question. However, if you know me at all, you know that Criminal Minds is my all-time favorite show ever, which makes it not such a crazy response. Truly, the world stands still when a new episode is on. I actually told Boo last week..."I wait all week for this one hour...be quiet until it is over, and if you can't be quiet, then leave the room!" Harsh, I know. But really. I do wait all week, anticipating that one hour with the BAU...Penelope, Prentiss, Rossi, Morgan, Hotchner, J.J. and Spencer. Oh Spencer, how I love thee. Thy nerdish ways...thy cute hair (although it was ever so much better long)...thy love of formulas, theories, literature, and such...thy random wisdom...thy awkward attempts at humor...yes, I love thee, Spencer Reid. The awesomely amazing part of it all?!?! I am actually home on Wednesday nights when it comes on!!! And immediately after? My second favorite show in the whole wide world, Law and Order SVU. I am not altogether sure of how well I will enjoy it this season though, since Elliot is gone. He and Liv were quite a team. Ah well, at least the crew from the BAU is all back together again for this season!

Commercially Minded

We live in a time and place where everything is so commercialized. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, Easter, births and birthdays: you name it, Americans commercialize it. I was watching the ‘brain drainer’ recently and a commercial came on that has been on air since I was a little girl. It made me wonder what the commercial with the record for longest run on air might be?

I have no idea, but I did start thinking of random commercials that have been around for ages, and I came up with this list, plus another list of commercials that may not have run as long, but have stayed in my mind for whatever reason. I did manage to find an article from USA Today (2007) about the top 25 most memorable commercials from the last 25 years that was pretty cool to see. If you can think of any others, feel free to comment them to me!
1. The commerical that got me thinking was for BandAid brand bandaids. “I am stuck on BandAid brand cuz  germs don’t stick on me!”
Following that one, I came up with a few more:
2. Tony the Tiger saying “Frosted Flakes, they’re grrrrrrreat!”
3. Charmin: “Don’t squeeze the Charmin!”
4. The DoubleMint Twins with ‘Double the Pleasure’
5. The Oscar Mayer Weiner song
6. The Energizer Bunny, keeps going and going…
7. Chevy trucks are “Like a Rock”
8. Nike “Just Do It”
9. Geico’s Cavemen “So easy a caveman could do it”
10. Lucky Charms “They’re magically delicious!”
Some that may not have been on air as long as others, but are unforgettable are:
Wendy’s Where’s the beef? I seem to remember a commercial using this phrase with the 3 old ladies in the backseat of a car, and they slide from side to side as they speed through town looking for the beef on an oversized bun. It cracked me up, and ranked #3 by USA Today.
Life Alert’s I’ve fallen and I can’t get up! is ranked as #1 on the USA Today article.
Dude, you’re gettin’ a Dell!
Bud-Weis-Errrrrr
Bud Light’s I love you man! commercials were hilarious.
Ching…Ching…CHA-CHING!!! My ‘Pap” used to sit and just guffaw over this commercial. This one and the Dell one were his all-time favorites.
