Great Reads!

Currently I am not reading anything in particular. I need a new literary obsession!

The Beautiful Creatures series, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, is being made into a movie series, and you MUST read them before you watch! The first book was great, not amazing but definitely worth reading, and the series totally gets better as it the story develops. In my opinion, this series will make a way better movie than the Twilight series.

This series in particular deals with more witchy behaviors than I would normally read, but the story is engaging. I admit, I love the supernatural stories that I have recently found (many you can see below), but they do not actually involve witchcraft. Fair warning demands that I let you know that this series does.

Other recent reads include the obvious Hunger Games series and the not so obvious 'Gone' series...freakin' amazing. Definitely recommend...

The next (series of course) that had an intro I was unable to put down until finished is the 'Shiver' series by Maggie Stiefvater. The second book, 'Linger,' was not quite as good as the first, but it is still a good read...

'Hush, Hush' was the beginning of a series by Becca Fitzpatrick that I just completed. Get them all! I bought 'Hush, Hush,' and went to the bookstore at 10:30 on the night that I finished it so that I could get started on 'Crescendo,' the sequel. Yes, it's that good. Even a bit sexy for a young adult series...

You may be wondering, if this chick is such a reader of young adult paranormal romances, where is the 'Twilight' series? Don't get me wrong...it's definitely one of my faves, although I did take issue with the series at times. It is actually what got me started reading this particular genre. I am not into all of the vampire series that are everywhere, in fact...I haven't read any others. Given how much I enjoyed the 'Twilight' books, I decided to try Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host.' When I announced that I was starting this particular book, my cousin (a high school librarian) and my daughter (a 'Twilight' fiend) both snarled at me, though they have never read it. And they so should. It was wow. It is one that the movie actually did the book justice...and may even have been better *gasp* can't.believe.i.just.said.that.

And now for my all-time favorite author...Mary Higgins Clark. I have been reading her suspense novels since I was 13 (that's a long time)...and I will even re-read most of them. I love thrillers that I can't figure out. Usually, they are a no brainer, but Ms. Clark is amazing...a queen of suspense, and stumps me almost every time. Twenty+ of her books have been made into television movies (television movies, not big screen or box office), such as 'Where Are the Children?' and  'A Stranger Is Watching.'

Lastly, but most certainly not least, my favorite book of all time. It needs no review, no description...
