Thriller Thursday

My drive to work every day is a 25 minute trip one-way. In the mornings, since I am not blessed enough to have XM radio, I listen to a local radio show that I truly adore...Heather and DC, with PoolBoy. Those guys crack me up! Throughout the month of October, they have 'Thriller Thursdays.' Each Thursday morning is spent with listeners sending in or calling in their 'scary stories.' I totally wish I had the time to call in. But alas, I do not. So I am going to thrill my readers with my chilling story.
In 2007, I was a newly single mom, re-adjusting to life on my own and the dating scene. I was spending lots of late nights out or on the phone with the boyfriend, depending on where the kiddos were (with me or with their dad). It was beginning to tucker me out. One weeknight, when I was frantically attempting to get laundry finished, the dryer door kept flying open and clothes would randomly shoot out and hit the wall. We got a big laugh out of it, but after three times, it was kinda creepy and very annoying. Three nights later, Lefty came in my room around 2 in the morning, asking if I was just on the computer. I very groggily answered her with a vague..."uh, do I look like I've been on the computer? I've been in bed since 11!" She said, "well, you might wanna get up and go look, because there was a woman sitting in the computer chair. She was glowing like if she had a cell phone by her face in the dark." I kind of dismissed it, but did go look, and saw nothing. The next morning, I had no recollection of the incident or conversation. When Lefty questioned me about it again, I told her she must have been sleepwalking and/or having a night fright. She insisted otherwise. That day the girls went back to their dad's house to stay for a few days. When I woke up the next morning, I was walking down the hallway, and a mirror flew off of a shelf that it had been sitting on for months. It crashed into the wall at my feet. I replaced it, and it immediately flew back off of the shelf. Pretty messed up eh? That wasn't the end of it; it gets better. Obviously after all of these strange happenings, I was beginning to get a bit paranoid and starting to look over my shoulder. I was leaving night-lights on, which I never do. The next instance happened when Chris was there. I was so glad I wasn't alone.
It was a Monday morning at 5:47. I had just gotten up and was putting a load of clothes into the dryer. My laundry area faced my garage. The door to the garage had a window in it, so I had a direct view into the garage whenever I was doing laundry. As I approached the laundry area and door, I began to feel very cold and nervous. I felt a lot of pressure on my chest the closer that I came to the door. Normally, I wouldn't even look through the window, since the garage door was closed...there should have been nothing to see. That particular morning though, I couldn't tear my eyes away. There was a woman sitting in my car, in the driver's seat. She had an eerie green glow, as though she were being lit up by a computer screen or cell phone. Her hair was dark and stringy, dirty looking. Her head was bowed, but she started to raise it as I watched. I screamed, and backed away, walking with my back against a wall the whole way back to my bedroom to wake Chris. I was frantic as I woke him up, telling him what I had seen. He picked up a candlestick and carried it to check out the situation. He told me that as he got close to the garage door, he was covered in goosebumps. He went into the garage and searched it high and low, but did not find a thing out of place. He came in feeling out of sorts and uncomfortable. Needless to say, we were extremely out of sorts over the 'presence.' One of my girls mentioned it to my mom, who in turn decided to pray over the house and 'rebuke' whatever spirits had come in to 'steal our peace and disturb our home'...we never saw the woman again.

  1. Oh my goodness, that is so creepy. I've never seen or experienced anything like that myself but I've heard plenty of stories that are similar. I'm glad whatever she was went away!
